About
Who we are:
Hartland Women in Technology (HWIT) is a group of women who are dedicated to learning more about technology and women in the technology industry. HWIT gives an opportunity for young women to get excited about the potential of a career in technology!
History:
Hartland Women in Technology started in 2015 by a past student, Taylynn Woodruff, when she submitted a request to start a new club at Hartland High School. The club began with 6 young women and has grown from there!, Michigan Council of Women In Tech (MCWT) sponsors us, Jen Lhota and Anne Hasseld are club co-sponsors. The club is 100% driven by the students: they run the meetings, choose the projects, etc. We simply fund them, provide moral support and an environment where they can thrive. The club is open to both middle and high school students.

What we do:
Every Monday, HWIT meets in room 317 in Mrs. Hasseld's room to explore technology together. HWIT has also participated in a Web Design Competition through Michigan Women In Technology and Robofest Robotics Competition at Lawrence Tech University. HWIT brings in multiple guest speakers to talk about their stories and experiences in technological careers. HWIT also offers an opportunity to teach others about technology by visiting grade and middle schools, showing children different types of cool technology! Students have also assisted teachers with website compliance and enhancements to their websites. We hope to make this list grow with time to see what else women in technology can do!
